CENTRAL JAVA, INDONESIA – GREAT CHOICE FOR YOUR VACATION

Central Java has a lot of great places and objects to be visited by people who want to get a great experience for their vacation.

This time I will introduce Semarang Regency, one of the best destination for your vacation in Central Java, because it has a very rich enchanted heritage, cultural and historical, traditional local life, and combined with a very beautiful natural landscape’s scenery.

Some information I have got from the book that distributed by the related Department in Semarang Regency, and others are from my experiences by visiting the object and location.

Some of tourist-objects you can visit in Semarang Regency are:

Air Terjun Semirang (Semirang Waterfall), located in Gogik village, on the valley of Ungaran Mount. On the way to this waterfall, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of coffee plantation.

 

Candi Gedong Songo (Gedong Songo Temple), complex of temples located in foothill of Ungaran Mount, exactly in Candi Village – 9 km away from Ambarawa town. Gedong Songo Temple belongs to one of the Hindu culture remains from the age of Wangsa Sanjaya Dynasty in the ninth century.

Cimory Milk Factory, the second factory of PT. Cisarua Mountain Dairy (Cimory) which located at Jalan Soekarno Hatta Kecamatan Karangjati, Kabupaten Semarang. A good place to get relax or spending your time with your family and enjoy the fresh milk and mix fruit yoghurt.

Goa Maria Kereb – Ambarawa (Maria Cave of Kereb - Ambarawa), spiritual tourist-object for Catholic people located in Ambarawa. Every week second in each month there is a Misa in Maria Cave of Kereb which visiting by thousands of Catholic people in Indonesia.

Kampoeng Kopi Banaran (Banaran Coffee Village), a coffee plantation area belong to PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IX (company which owned by Indonesian Government). In this location you can experience the natural beauty of the plantation and the taste of Indonesian Coffee.

Museum Kereta Api - Ambarawa (Train Museum - Ambarawa), a train museum which has some ancient train collection located in Ambarawa, in this museum you can also take a packet of tour namely getting a ride on the steam powered train which posses through the geared rails while having the nature of village and mountains area.

In Semarang Regency you can get some handicrafts and souvenirs in traditional market or at the tourist-object, and also you can try some traditional culinary and delicious local food, like Sate, Tahu (tofu) and Susu Kedelai (Soy Milk), Lumpia Semarang, Kelengkeng fruit, Indonesian Coffee, Kue Wingko, and many others.

In Semarang Regency area, there are so many hotels, cottages, and motels from the expensive until the cheap one, which located in the city, hill, valley, or at the coffee plantation. And all… it’s up to you.

So let’s come to Central Java, especially to Semarang Regency and visit many great places, see the beautiful natural scenery, experience the cool activity, and taste the traditional culinary of Central Java. Even with the limited budget you can get all. From Semarang Regency you need only 2 – 3 hours by car (depends to the traffic and road situation) to go to Jogjakarta.

Here I give you some general information about Semarang Regency:

Semarang Regency is located in a strategic area, because it is situated at the tourism line called Joglosemar (Jogjakarta – Solo – Semarang). It consists of 19 sub districts and 235 villages, and having so many wonderful tourist-objects.

Semarang regency is an area with range of hills, mountainous, and valley with the highest point is located on 1459 M namely Getasan sub district, and the lowest on 310 M in Ungaran sub district. The average of the rainfall reaches 2,288 mm with the highest rainfall occurs in January, and the lowest in April. The temperature is about 23^o until 26^o C.
